Vanessa Woo is a lighting professional with experience in gaffing and key gripping. She has climbed the ladder from set lighting technician to gaffer and plans to continue growing as a filmmaker. From a young age, Vanessa has been intrigued by lighting: the way it leaves shadows, how it cuts and illuminates, and how it can alter moods and atmosphere. Filmmaking allows her to dive into an alternate universe, and immerse herself within the light of multiple perspectives.

Vanessa has worked on projects large and small, from student shorts to independent features. She graduated from San Francisco State University with Bachelors Degree in Cinema and an array of courses and projects under her belt. A notable course is the CSU Summer Arts program where she worked personally with ASC members Frederick Goodich, Vilmos Szigmond, and Bruce Logan.
